Dedicated Alan Honored With Top Sailing Award

Alan Salerman, the dedicated sailing hero from Worcestershire would be receiving one of the most esteemed RYA (Royal Yachting Association) awards from Princess Royal HRH- RYA President. The award would be conferred upon him soon by end of November 2014 as an acknowledgement of his immense contributions to sailing.

Salerman hails from Rubery, Bromsgrove based Arden Sailing Club would be reportedly recognized with the very prestigious Lifetime Commitment RYA Award at the national governing body of sailing’s yearly awards ceremony that would be hosted at London.

The Arden Sailing veteran has been quite an enduring personnel on the sailing scene across West Midlands for more than 4 decades now. However, his most significant legacy is probably the contributions he made in steering his club’s re-establishment near Pershore whilst it was compelled to move out from its earlier site in the year 1997.

Albeit a small one when it comes to club size, yet it was Alan’s zeal and determination that made Arden quite a packed one with sufficient members needed for a fresh beginning.

The sailing veteran discovered the new location & almost single-handedly got the blueprints drawn & planning permission granted. His strong refusal to surrender in times of rejection also led him to gather more than 35,000 pound of funding & the ultimate outcome of his enthusiasm were impeccable facilities where a lion’s share of work was being carried on by the members of the club. Needless to mention, it was Salerman’s passion that inspired the other members of the club as well to buck up with a fighting spirit.

The sailing hero was nominated by his own club for this prestigious award & selected as the winner by the Awards panel of RYA. He would be honored with a certificate, commemorative medallion & a great celebratory lunch as well with HRH Princess Royal present at the ceremony

French Yacht brought to safety lifeboat; stolen Bulgarian yacht on the way to Romania

A forty six foot long French yacht was pulled along to safety by the Cowes lifeboat last Sunday after it told via radio that it had engine problems. The man and the woman on board the yacht called Patou, had projected to sail from the East Cowes to Yarmouth but after that, off Gurnard, it altered their plan because of all the strong wind from the west. When they tried to motor back to the Cowes Harbour, it was disclosed that they could not begin their engine.
The lifeboat that launched at 17:55, pulled along the yacht to Trinity Landing. The pair expected to sail to the home port of the boat, St. Malo, once a repair job had been executed.
Meanwhile, Border police clutched a stolen Bulgarian boat from Cape Shabla on the way to Romania. They also detained sixty immigrants who were aboard it from Iraq or Syria. The boat is actually made for 6 people, and it is still a mystery that the boat stayed afloat with sixty passengers and it did not sink.
The yacht in question is a Bulgarian luxury boat that got stolen three days ago in Istanbul, Turkey. The boat was linked to human trafficking. Two Turkish families have hired the yacht as a charter for the tourist firm named Evergreen. The refugees were loaded to Romania, because the yacht was already announced for search in Bulgaria.

Joining the big leagues

Prestige is a name which boating aficionados are quite familiar with. But Prestige is a French company who are completely new to the world of yachting, and there are many established names here already, such as the likes of Azimut, Princess, Ferretti, Monte Carlo Yachts and Sunseeker. So Prestige will have to create something really spectacular in order to create a niche for itself in the world of yachting.

So, Prestige has unveiled their latest Prestige 750, which comes loaded with many promises. The hardest challenge that this yacht will have to take on is to dissuade buyers from going to the big names which are already there, but go for a completely new name, which is fresh no doubt, but is a totally unknown entity. And Prestige have come up with a master plan to take on these big daddies of yachting by incorporating a very simple addition onto the 750- a master cabin on the main deck itself. This master cabin is packed to the rafters with features, and the packaging is done so beautifully, that it is sure to win hearts over. The design of the master cabin is that if a luxury yacht bedroom, not something which one would expect on a 75 foot long yacht. It is a simple flybridge yacht which has one of the most luxurious master cabins that a yacht can have.

And the best part about this yacht is that, Prestige has made it a point to display this masterpiece at all major show, so if you are interested, you can visit one near you, and see for yourself, the luxuries that this yacht has to offer. There is a midships cabin below the decks as well, and it is quite a looker as well, from the point of view of comfort and efficiency both.
